My husband and I rescued a fledgling barn owl from the front entrance
to a house in our complex on Monday. He was full sized, but not able
to fly. He was unfortunately not in an area where it would be safe
for him to remain on the ground - too many kids and cars. We took him
to the Ohlone Humane Society Wildlife Rescue. They said he was in
good condition and that they'd keep him for a couple of weeks until
he was ready to be released back into our area. They also told us
that there are probably several other fledglings in a nearby nest.

A beautiful bird with his white dish face. Wonderful to know that
barn owls are breeding in our suburban neighborhood. There's plenty
of food this springs as there seem to be baby ground squirrels
    everywhere I look.
