    Monday 5/28/07
Couple purple finch at the feeder today seemingly non-plussed at the red
    squirrel moving in
    on their territory.
Normally don't see or hear purple finch that often and noticed they're more
    apt to feed
on the ground under the feeder as compared to the common house finches that
visit the feeder--that's what tipped me off to look a little closer--cheek
patches, red under-tail, more prominent shaped head.

We have a pair of great horned owls visible at dusk 100 feet uphill in the
oaks. Little chatter from them too, and we know to looking for them when the
    jays start their squawking.
