Following up on Bob Brandiff's post on Tuesday, I went out to Briones this
morning from around 8:30-11:30 and hiked UP the Briones Crest trail, then
back down the Santos and Abrigo Valley trails.

I heard 3-4 grasshopper sparrows on the Briones Crest trail, and was even
lucky enough to get a photo of one
    (http://www.flickr.com/photos/36424218 at N00/514024249/), and then I heard
several more on the Santos Trail. The lower Santos Trail was very birdy.

A list of the birds I saw this morning (partial because of my very limited
ability to recognize bird songs) includes:

    Red-shouldered hawk
    Red-tailed hawk
    Coopers hawk
    Turkey vulture
    Raven
    Violet-green swallow
    Nuttall's woodpecker (h)
    Black phoebe
    Say's phoebe
    Western kingbird
    Ash-throated flycatcher
    Western bluebird
    Chesnut-backed chickadee
    Oak Titmouse
    American robin (on nest)
    House wren
    Warbling vireo
    Cassin's vireo
    California towhee
    Spotted towhee
    Grasshopper sparrow
    Lark sparrow
    Chipping sparrow
    Dark-eyed junco
    Lesser goldfinch
    Lazuli bunting
    Horned lark
    Western meadowlark
    Red-winged blackbirds
    Bullock's oriole
    Starlings
