[EBB Sightings] Killdeer in Fremont

You wouldn't think you could turn a team of 9- and 10-year-old baseball 
players into bird enthusiasts, but it is possible. I promised my kids a pack of 
baseball cards for the first player who spotted a killdeer on our practice field 
at Fremont's Chadbourne Elementary (801 Plymouth Ave., off Chadbourne, which 
is off Paseo Padre). Sure enough, the kids noticed a pair of killdeer today. 
This is the second year we've spotted the birds.
  The fields back up to a creek. If you want to check out the birds, 
obviously you'll have to wait until after school hours. Park out front and walk behind 
the school. The birds were generally in the far back and toward the right.
