    Dear EBB birders-

This is a slightly out-of-area post, but they are headed our way.

Yesterday I was out in Stockton and eastern San Joaquin Co., specifically Flood and Waverley Roads near Linden, and saw 15 Western Kingbirds. Though more common out there than in the Bay Area, I have never seen so many on one outing. They were hawking insects and sitting pretty on the fence lines.

There were 2 Swainson's Hawks present between Stockton and Tracy on Robert's Road. The area east of Tracy between Tracy Blvd and Robert's Road is a reliable place to find them. A Norther Harrier male was hunting on the ground as his mate hunted the same field from the air. She was also carrying nesting material to a tree on the levee. Many Red Tail pairs were about.

Again, though not specially in our post area, San Joaquin Co. and easter CC Co. provide may great opportunities to see a variety of birds that we don't get here as often. It's not that far away.

    Cheers,

    Pat Bacchetti
