[EBB Sightings] Five grebe species, Lake Merritt

    This evening in the stretch of Lake Merritt (in Oakland) between the 
    islands and the Embarcadero were a Clark's Grebe, four Western Grebes, 
    at least a dozen Eared Grebes in full breeding plumage, and a couple of 
    Pied-billed Grebes.  A Horned Grebe, also in full breeding plumage, was 
    on the Lakeshore Ave. side of the lake this morning.  I looked around 
    for a Red-necked Grebe, but that was too much to hope for.  Here are a
