A quick post to add to Paul Schorr's that we too were headed up Pine
Canyon between 9.30 and 11.00am today (3/18) and among the usual cast
of suspects we did catch great views of a pair of adult Rufous-crowned
Sparrows above the old dam and where the 'hole in the rock' is found at
Nature Walk-Stop #4, as Hugh Harvey had indicated in his post of 3/17.
Our impression was that the individuals we saw were smaller (4-5 inches
at most) than Sibley indicates adults to be (6 inches) - Also spied
elusive wrentits where Shell Ridge Loop Trail comes off the main trail
up the canyon. No views or hearings of orange crowned warblers.

    Beautiful day for the walk!

    David and Valerie Hutton
