On a bike ride this morning from Elsie Roemer to Arrowhead Marsh, 7-9am, low tide increasing to high tide:
First noticed the ducks moving quickly away from the shore by Elsie Roemer, then the shorebirds, all along the shoreline; a Peregrine Falcon started chasing some kind of medium sized light colored shorebird in the air over the channel between Alameda and Bay Farm; the shorebird somehow outwitted its attacker by flying fast though the air and suddenly dropping when the Peregrine got close. Amazing aerial displays.
At Arrowhead marsh, saw a Clapper Rail out in the open on a mud flat; it ducked quickly into the bankside when a Northern Harrier flew overhead.
Sharpshinned Hawk at Broadway and Lincoln in Alameda, perched on a telephone pole.
