A Saturday bike ride from Piedmont to Coyote Hills (and BART back home)
didn't produce much of interest except five Horned Larks in the southwest
corner of Arrowhead Marsh. Met a new birder there, Grant, who had seen them
the previous day. Also had a Sora very happily perched on a tire off the
left hand side of the boardwalk for about five minutes at high tide. At
Mount Trashmore it was hard to miss the Ross and Snow Geese among the flock
of Canada and Cackling Geese. That was about it as I focused more on the
    riding, not birding.

The previous Saturday I biked to Moraga and saw/heard an estimated 400
Varied Thrushes along Pinehurst Road about 11am. A week earlier I did the
same route around 3pm and the count was minimal. Lastly, I too was
fortunate to have my first home sighting of White-Throated Swifts last week.
