While checking on the Redhead at Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek this
morning, I found a Yellow-shafted Flicker working the trees and open ground
areas adjacent to the last parking area on the west side of the access road
(around the concrete viewing area at the edge of the lake). The bird
appeared to be pure Yellow-shafted, with no signs of hybridization. It
alternated between picking berries in the trees, working trunks and limbs
and scavenging on the ground for ants.

The Redhead is still present and both the Ring-necked Ducks and Bufflehead
    are engaging in courtship displays.
