[EBB Sightings] Byron Owls & Gathering of Gulls

Hi Birders.
The SHORT-EARED OWLS first reported by Kathy Robertson on l/15 continued today in a slightly different location.  From about 3:00-4:00 pm I watched them from Holey Rd., beyond the turn for the Byron Hot Springs Rd., across from the metal barn.
Also, in a field south of Mt. House Rd. (and easily viewed from that road), near the Byron Highway, a large number of CALIFORNIA GULLS was assembled along with CROWS, RAVENS, CURLEWS, and a GREAT EGRET.  Any ideas about what might have brought them there would be most appreciated; my only thought was grasshoppers or the like.
