This afternoon at Lake Del Valle I had 3 Cackling Geese associating with a
large flock of the resident Canada Geese. The Cackler's were on the east
side of the lake grazing on the grass. I had a tan-stripped White-throated
Sparrow below the auto bridge on the east anchorage. From the east end of
the bridge there is a trail that goes off to the right and drops down to
bottom of the canyon. The White-throated Sparrow was at the intersection of
this trail and the fire road.
The lake is way down, almost to the boat launch. Along the shoreline in the
mud-flats are many shorebirds, Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper,
dowitchers and Killdeer. Also of note was the arrival of Bonaparte's Gulls,
I counted 12 in a group preening. Also good numbers of Eared Grebes are at
    the lake now.
