I have records of 53 birding visits to Valle Vista/Upper San Leandro Reservoir over 16 years. I have seen a White Pelican there only once (last October). So, yes Marilyn, that's a good sighting for the location.

Late this morning at Valle Vista, there was one AMERICAN PELICAN,
with a group of about nine or ten GADWALL, along the King Canyon
LoopTrail as it parallels the shoreline of the San Leandro
Reservoir. I was looking toward the water from the trail by the
fenced fields before the horse corral. I've never seen an American
Pelican at this location before. Has anyone else?

Valle Vista is EBMUD property and requires a trail permit.
