Among the throng of lesser and american goldfinches, we had a single
PINE SISKIN at the thistle bag this evening. This was our first
since the bumper crop of siskins a couple of winters ago. I think it
was an adult (no overall yellowish wash that the Nat Geo guide
describes for juv.). The wingbars were not as distinct as I'm used
to seeing, so I couldn't say they were yellow or white. Perhaps they
are molting this time of year? The long thin bill was distinctive.

Also saw an Osprey flying surprisingly low over Wildcat Canyon.
Although they are common on both sides of the El Cerrito hills here,
this was actually a new 'yard' bird for us. We are located a bit
north of the El Cerrito/Richmond border near Wildcat Canyon Regional
    Park.

One final note- we have not seen the Rose-breasted Grosbeak again
since the initial sighting a couple of weeks ago.

    Good Birding

    Alan
