    Birders:

I cannot currently receive messages directly from EBB (don't ask!), so
    must read them via Dave Ranney's "sialia" site . . . .

Anyway, I've looked at the photos referenced on the "Subject: [EBB
Sightings] sparrow ID help" message and wonder, . . . . why isn't this
    a Clay-colored Sparrow?

Paula and Kevin L, wherever you live, please contact me after you've
had a chance to refer to field guides (Sibley and/or the National
Geographic), and give me your thoughts on whether Clay-colored's
description matches what you've seen on your bird.

Other birders: any other opinions on the bird's identity?

    Thanks, in advance, to all.

PS: Paula and Kevin, where do you live? Are you still seeing the bird?
      Please reply directly to me.
