[EBB Sightings] West Contra Costa Ducks -- addendum

Thanks to Alan Kaplan and Dave Quady for the post re. Common Mergansers at
Jewel Lake.  Sorry for the late post, but it's worth noting that the 2 male,
4 female Common Mergansers plus 2 pair Bufflehead were all at Jewel Lake a
week earlier on Sat. Jan. 11, along with a female Common Goldeneye and a
Pied-billed Grebe (along with the usual Mallards).  Park employees have
cleared a lot of growth from the stream channel feeding the lake; not sure
if this has altered the lake ecology in a way beneficial to the birds...or
if their ongoing presence is just serendipity.
