    Happy MLK Day, everyone.
Has anyone seen the black-and-white warbler lately?
On the chance it might still be in Lakeside Park, I
spent some time down there yesterday. Lots of other
warblers, kinglets and such, but not the bird I wanted
to see. I was treated to my first red-breasted
    sapsucker, however.
I also went looking for the waterthrush at Aquatic
park, but missed it, too. A mixed flock of blackbirds
took over the thicket it's been frequenting--what a
racket! There was a lone female canvassback near the
hooded merganser couple in the other pond. Someone
should tell her to head for Lake Merritt; there were a
fair number of both sexes there yesterday, along with
    the usual winter waterfowl collection.
    Cheers,
