The TUFTED DUCK was near the north island in the main lagoon at Berkeley's
Aquatic Park today around 2:15, just as the rain was starting to clear. The
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH could not have been more obliging if I had made an
appointment with it - it hopped around in the northeast corner of the
southernmost pond, giving its chip note and bobbing its tail, the moment I
showed up. Granted, the sun was emerging from behind the clouds for the
first time in hours, and the whole area was buzzing with bird calls; this
was around 3 pm. The HOODED MERGANSER couple were near the west end of the
middle pond around the same time.
