FeederWatch records for Band-tailed Pigeon as summarized at www.birds.cornell.edu for the California region since 1990 show a fairly even incidence at about 20 percent of feeders, and with about 6 birds per report.
Our Moraga Feederwatch reports show the following high counts during January to March (number of birds seen at any one moment): 2000, 7; 2001, 6; 2002, 1; 2003, 12; 2004, 3; 2005, 1; 2006, 1.
We have seen Band-tailed Pigeons during each of last week and the week before, but only one or two at a time. We have not seen large flocks here for several years.
