    Sounds like he's back! Last year, a male Goldeneye/Merganser cross spent 
    a couple of months hanging with the Goldeneye flock up by the 12th 
    Street bridge, and there were reports of an immature cross showing up 
    the year before.
    
    If it's the same bird, his daddy was probably the Merganser, as he 
    clearly thinks of himself as a Goldeneye, complete to eating shellfish. 
    It's good to hear that he's getting enough of them down that weaselly 
    fish-eater's beak....
