    I have seen a white-tailed (black-shouldered) kite in the south part of 
    Walnut Creek several times this summer. I've seen it over Sugarloaf Hill open 
    space. It's quite common to see several varieties of hawk in this area, but this is 
    the first time I've seen the kite. At times it displays very aggressive 
    behavior, flushing larger hawks out of oak trees.
