    Sat 7/9/05 Byron-Tracy Area

    - SWAINSON'S HAWK light morph circling overhead at corner of Byron Rd/Highway and Herdlyn Rd.
Below the adult spotted above, a juvenile perched on a fencepost at this intersection's northeastern corner.

    - BURROWING OWL on east side of Mtn. Home Rd., .5 mile north of N. Grant Line Rd. (Mtn. Rd. is an exit off Highway 205 that goes toward Tracy/Stockton)

Go 100' north of a pig farm located on the e. side of Mtn. Home Rd. (as you access Mtn. Home Rd. from Highway 205 via I-580) ...........and just north of the long canopy shelter, a driveway pullout exists across from a house. Walk east toward the field and levees where you'll see and hear Cal. Ground Squirrel and where stock ponds occur. Amidst this scene (about 200' from the driveway pullout), I saw three individuals (all adults)

    and.....

    - LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE
on Herdlyn Rd. and Lindemann Rd.
Here there's a gate that prevents cars from going farther onto Herdlyn Rd. Go under the gate and walk on this nice quiet road. The Loggerheads are on the north side (left side) of the road as you walk.
