    Hi, all.
I was down to see the Ross's goose at Lake Merritt
yesterday. Nice little bird. I was taken aback at the
number of Canadas; is it just me or is there a
population problem? Is there something that
can/should be done to try to help keep the numbers at
a more healthy-seeming level (like, say, at Berkeley
Aquatic Park)? (No, I'm not advocating thining or
    anything.)
I'm curious, too, about how folks feel about how
healthy it is that these birds have apparently taken
up permanent residence rather than migrating to more
traditional breeding ranges. Or is all of this a
matter to be discussed in a different venue than this
    list? If so, I apologize.
    Cheers,
    Alan
