Yesterday I made my second attempt to visit the Wildcat Canyon site where
Lance Beeson reported seeing several Great Horned Owls. I am pleased to report
that I spotted a Great Horned Owl right where Lance said it would be in previous
    postings to EBB Sightings.

I immediately sat down and spent the next half hour observing her (?). She
was about 14" or so tall, and had a blackish tint to her coloration. She yawned
a huge yawn, moved so she was sitting right in the sun, and proceeded to
continually doze off. Then to my even greater surprise, a much bigger, more brown
colored, Great Horned Owl flew up and sat down right next to her. He (?)
hooted a few times and attempted to groom her around the side of her head, which
she resisted. Then they both sat together for the next half hour until a jay
showed up and made a commotion a few feet above them. This seemed to motivate
the bigger owl to fly deeper into the forest, where he continued to be
    harassed by 2 jays.

Good birding to all of you,
