We arrived at Lake Merritt (Oakland) at about 9:30 this morning. We were
unable to locate the formerly mentioned chat in the Garden Center area.

We moved to the Nature Center area about 10:20 and began searching for the
FRANKLIN'S GULL. After walking around and relocating ourselves several
times, we located the gull -- or should I say he located us -- when he flew
in from the east around 12:00 noon. He almost immediately flew off to the
west. Perhaps 15 minutes later, he flew back in and lazily circled the
goose pen area several times before flying off to the west again. About
1:15 another birder relocated the gull just east of the duck feeding area
and kindly alerted us. The gull strutted about on the sidewalk for maybe
half an hour, giving us good views and photos. He flew off to the west for
    a 3rd time at about 1:45.

We were also unable to relocate the female Tufted Duck (which we saw
Friday), nor had anyone else we spoke with seen her today.
