    Greetings,

Did a bit of birding around Dublin. The BURROWING
OWLS are all over the place, especially in that Sybase
field on the western fence. I also saw them in the
fields of Eastern Dublin which have been mentioned
before on this list. It's unfortunate that so much
development is planned for those fields. I hope they
aren't planning to take action during the nesting
season at least. Anyway, I saw them all along Dublin
Blvd east of Tassajara - at the NE corner and then in
the southern field a block east of Tassajara. The
Sybase owls seem to be the most regularly visible
though. Here are two photos of them that I took:

I also spent time in the fields on the northern side
of Central Parkway, just west of that little park at
the corner of Tassajara & Central Pkwy. I saw a
WESTERN SCRUB JAY fiddling around with nesting
material at the top of the large tree closest to the
road near the creek. I didn't see a nest or hear a
mate but I didn't look very hard since I didn't want
    to bother him/them.

Most interestingly (to me anyway) was a pair of
KILLDEER hanging around the standing water in the tire
marks in the gravel part of that lot. I observed them
mating at one point. At sunset they flew north over
the treeline at the park so they probably nest up
there; they probably stopped in that field for a quick
bath. Anyway, I didn't have much luck with the
photos, but here's one of the better (relatively)
    ones:
