The adult FRANKLIN'S GULL at Lake Merritt, discovered and reported
yesterday by Ed DeBellevue, was re-found this afternoon at 3:30pm. The
bird was standing on a log float well east of the Rotary Nature Center.
After just a minute of my viewing, the bird took off, flew directly
over me and continued west toward the domed cage structure where it was
seen yesterday. This is a spectacular bird - even for those who usually
ignore gulls - and well worth wading through the Rock Pigeons and Canada
    Geese at Lake Merritt.
