    Hi again,

I received a message from an EBBer asking me to repost with a much more
    helpful directions.

For those who have never been to Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area,
the park has two main bodies of water. The "main lake" I
mentioned is on your left as you drive into the park passing by an
entrance kiosk. (There is only one entrance into the area by car.) On
the park map this "main lake" is labeled as "Shadow Cliffs Lake".

The second body of water is what I can only describe as in the back of
the park, and is actually a creek (Arroyo Del Valle), though rather
stagnant and looks more like a series of connected ponds. (This includes
the "Island Pond" shown on the park map too.) You wouldn't even see this
second smaller body of water as you drive into the park, because there
is a high levee separating the two areas. Anyway, these "ponds" are not
the main lake that I was referring to in my earlier post.

The "far end of the paved parking area" is near the "Marina View" picnic
area on the park map. Since there is only one way to enter the park, I
described it as the far end.

I'd suggest that my description would have made more sense if you were
to actually go there, as opposed to just looking at the map. But,
regardless, I'd like to try to be more helpful in my future postings.

Incidentally, this loon has been reported multiple times on EBB since
early December (thus my reference to "still at Shadow Cliffs...").
Earlier postings may contain better directions.

Oh, and yes, there is an admission/vehicle parking fee. I'm not exactly
sure how much it is because I usually walk into the park. Use of a scope
    is recommended.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Akira
