I got this message from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Director at Lindsay Wildlife Museum (where I work). I thought the list might want to be aware.

The California Department of Fish and Game has requested that Northern California residents remove bird feeders for at least one month to control the spread of salmonellosis in songbirds. Pine siskins are most heavily impacted in this outbreak, but any bird feeding at a feeder that's had a sick siskin visit can be infected. See Fish and Game's news release on the bulletin board in the staff office or the hospital volunteer room or see me for more information.

Thanks for your help getting this information out to the public.
