RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS remain at Lake Merritt, Oakland, where they were
first reported by Travis Hails' GGAS trip on Wednesday. I counted 5-10
scattered around the deep water in the main part of the lake. I couldn't see
them all from a single vantage point so I don't have an exact tally.

The hybrid GOLDENEYE x HOODED MERGANSER remains with the Goldeneye / Scaup
flock at the lake inlet by the 14th Street bridge. I found only Common
Goldeneyes there today. I didn't spot a single Barrow's on the lake, though
I only walked about 2/3 of the perimeter. Not sure if the Barrows have just
moved locally or if they've left the area. From recent reports of much
reduced numbers in Martinez, I suspect they are moving out.
