    Birders:

Between about noon and one p.m. today the still-fairly-high tide pushed
at least three Soras, a dozen Clapper Rails, and a Virginia Rail into
view beneath, near and beyond the boardwalk/pier. The Nelson's
Sharp-tailed Sparrow is still present; it perched in good view on its
usual island a couple of times for a few minutes each time.

While all this was nice, I was more interested to discover a
Red-throated Loon floating in the mitigation marsh, quite close to the
entrance road near the parking lot at the end of the road. The bird
seemed quite content, and not at all bothered by the fact that it
couldn't have had more than about a foot of water beneath it. Strange.
