    The Oakland Christmas Bird Count was held yesterday, Sunday December=20
    19.=A0 The weather couldn=92t have been better.=A0 Preliminary results =
    show=20
    that more than 200 people participated, and found 179 species, about=20
    four more than our average, with some areas yet to report.  Unusual=20
    birds included:

    	=95 	Wandering  Tattler (South Boat =96 10th time in 31 =
    years)
    	=95 	Lesser  Yellowlegs (Airport =96 7th time)
    	=95 	Common  Moorhen (Point Isabel =96 12th time)
    	=95 	Wilson=92s  Warbler (Point Isabel =96 4th time)
    	=95 	Short-eared  Owl (Alameda  refuge =96 14th time)
    	=95 	Yellow  Warbler (Berkeley  =96 2nd time)
    	=95 	Blue-gray  Gnatcatcher (Berkeley,  11th time)
    	=95 	Western  Tanager (Mills  College, 3rd  time)
    	=95 	Wild  Turkey (Dunsmuir and Lafayette Reservoir, 3rd =
    time)
    	=95 	Selasphorus  Hummingbird =96 Redwood  Regional Park
    	=95 	Cackling  Goose (San Leandro Reservoir =96 14th time)
    	=95 	Red-naped  Sapsucker (Orinda =96 1st time)
    	=95 	Snow  Goose (Orinda =96 12th time)
    	=95 	Green-tailed  Towhee (Moraga  =96 1st time)
    
    Birds that were apparently missed on count day include:

    	=95 	American  White Pelican
    	=95 	Cattle  Egret
    	=95 	Bald  Eagle

    	=95 	Rock  Wren
    	=95 	House  Wren (pending confirmation)
    
    Species seen count week but missed on count day include:
    
    	=95 	Ferruginous  Hawk (Alameda  refuge)
    	=95 	Barn  Swallow (Alameda  refuge)
    	=95 	Townsend=92s  Solitaire (Moraga)
    
    We are uncertain whether the Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow at Arrowhead=20=
    
    Marsh was seen during count week, but know it was missed on count day.
