    EastBayBirders,

This morning the SWAMP SPARROW was walking on the mud in thick reeds near
the bend in the paved trail, then popped up and perched atop first one
trailside bush and then another for excellent views. A LINCOLN'S SPARROW
called from its perch on a bush above the trail. For several minutes I
watched a VIRGINIA RAIL quietly forage in short reeds just below and a few
yards shy of the trail's end. I heard and then saw another Virginia Rail run
across a large opening in tall reeds at the end of the trail. A third
Virginia Rail called from farther downstream where on a previous visit I saw
WILSON'S SNIPE and COMMON MOORHEN. A flock of Myrtle YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS
gradually worked its way downstream. Chattering MARSH WRENS were showing
well. A BUFFLEHEAD was diving in the pond adjacent to the trailhead.
