    Just to add a little food for thought, here in Redding most of the Green
    Heron nests I've heard about (I, too, have never actually seen one) have
    been in large oak trees.

    If anyone on this list has actually seen a Green Heron nest, would you
    be 
    willing to post a description?  Would be especiallly interested in
    hearing 
    any Bay Area nest described.  I have never seen one.
    
    On the Contra Costa Atlas effort, I saw a pair of Green Herons over and
    over 
    again along the lower reaches of Wildcat Creek in Richmond. All spring,
    all 
    summer. But could never find a nest. Frustrating.
