[EBB Sightings] Piliated woodpeckers

I think there was a piliated woodpecker in the 
hills over the weekend. I know that in the past we 
get a few of these in the Oakland Hills on the Redwood 
Park side of Skyline.  I was in the redwoods off of Big Trees 
traii in Joaquin Miller Park on Sat and heard a pecker pecking..  
sans binos was unable to id it.. it was quite large and I could detect
the black back.  It was about 30-45 feet above 
ground level... and was pecking away.

Is this too early for them?
