    Arlyn,
    I heard and saw a poorwill on the Dunn Trail in Redwood Regional Park, 
    probably around 10 years ago, but at this time of year.  The surrounding 
    habitat was coastal scrub (coyote bush, poison oak, sage, monkeyflower). 
    Have you had more observations?
