At about 7:30 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2004, I saw about half a
dozen crows mobbing something in a fir tree 30 or more feet above the
ground, in Berkeley off Hillside Avenue (near the Smyth-Fernwald
    housing complex).

At first I thought it must have been a hawk but as I got into a
better viewing position I was very surprised to see that it was a
wild turkey. I have seen turkeys many times on the ground and they
are not small birds but this one looked really huge when seen that
    high up in a tree.

After about ten or fifteen minutes the crows left and eventually the
turkey flew down to a lower spot in some adjacent trees where I lost
    sight of it.
