    Hello all,

Yesterday evening (8/30) at low tide there were at least seven Elegant Terns
roosting with Forster's Terns on the mudflats southwest of the Elsie Roemer
Bird Sanctuary in Alameda. There were also hundreds of other shorebirds of the
expected species, including many Sanderlings. Several Clapper Rails were
calling in the marsh. I believe this is regular place for ELTEs in fall, as my
notes indicate I saw them at the same spot in early September two years ago.

The sanctuary is in the South Shore area of Alameda, at the intersection of
South Shore Drive and Broadway. The mudflats are quite distant from the
viewing areas, so a scope is recommended.

    Good birding,
