Sunday, February 29, four participants and I enjoyed a cool but rewarding day along the Alameda Creek Regional Trail, Coyote Hills Regional Park, and Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont. A nesting Great Horned Owl and two Red-tailed Hawks building a nest were the high points of a great birding day.

Hi everyone,

The Snow Bunting continued today (February 29) at Clifton Court Forebay near Byron.

I was told that the bird was seen well this morning in the grassy area near the gravel parking lot, as well as on the levee nearby. I'm told that the bird was seen until around noon, at which time it flew away toward the inaccessible restricted area on the south side of Clifton Court Rd.

The bird was later re-found by Joanne from Lodi at around 1:30 PM as we walked on the paved levee. (I got there at around 12:30 PM.) I was able to take some additional photos of the bird. I just uploaded one of the photos from this afternoon:

I was glad to see that many people had good view of the bird today (and yesterday), as well as being able to see it again myself. I never got a very satisfying look on the first day, so I was glad for the second chance.  :)

Good birding,
Akira
