Yay, I saw it today! It was there at 3 PM, briefly. I had just given up, turned around to look again - and there it was. Ten seconds later, it flew away.

Thanks  :)

On 12 May, I helped lead a trip for the Napa-Solano Audubon Society to Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area. Hayward Shoreline
Mon, 14 May 2001 23:17:49 PDT
From: Bob Richmond

The following was seen at the Hayward Shoreline mostly today, but a few yesterday:

Cattle Egret - 2, seen on an apparent nest yesterday, seen carrying nest material to the vicinity of the nest seen yesterday. Nest in bullrush was very hard to see. You had to be in the right spot to see it and the bird on the nest had to be positioned just the right way to identify it.

Black Skimmer - 2, seen both days
Spotted Sandpiper - 2 seen today
Yellow-headed Blackbird - 3 seen today, all were females
Bank Swallow - 1 seen yesterday

Today a tern was seen that may have been the Arctic Tern X Forster's Tern that was fledged 2 summers ago, but the bird was either seen in flight or when on the ground, it was usually sitting on the ground which made for a hard time seeing the 4 bands (2 on each leg).

The Arctic Tern was not seen today.

Good birding
Bob
