[EBB Sightings] Lake Merritt-Barrow's Goldeneyes, various herons

The Albany Adult School Beginning Birding class had a five-heron view. With human feet planted in the same spot, we could see several snowy egrets, a juvenile and an adult black-crowned night heron, a great blue heron on the boom line, a great egret in a tree near the bird enclosure, and a juvenile green heron on the lakeshore. (This is almost as good as the five bridge view in various spots in the Bay Area.)

Both Barrow's and common goldeneyes (both males and females)?were clearly seen among the islands. Five canvasbacks (4 male, one female) and the female ring-necked duck were also present. 

We did not see either the reported female redhead nor the tufted duck.
