    Hi Birders,

Where: East Ridge Trail, Skyline Gate, Redwood Regional Park, Oakland
    Time; 6:30ish am

This morning our 2 juvenile Great Horned Owl siblings were on view
close to the trail on the south side of trail going down the hill
toward the first bench. They still have a screech not a hoot and seem
non-phased by people and dogs. The 2 owls have been observed easily
since early July when they were still covered with their down that
looks like English barrister wigs. At that time the two were goofing
around on the same branch, bobbing their heads, bumping into each
other, beak play, and screeching. They have been observed since then
often together but more flying to nearby trees, often swooping low over
    the trail providing great looks.

The tree cutting does not seem to have chased them away. Some walkers
spotted the nest but I didn't find it.

Also this morning flock of bluebirds in the area right at the start of
the trail. I saw a lot of bluebirds earlier in the summer which was a
first for me...I guess we are more like Sibley with the trees gone.

Also seen: juvenile resident red-tailed hawk and a red-shouldered
juvenile. Very occasional olive-sided flycatcher, a few hairy
    woodpeckers.

Last week on West Ridge Trail: female Bullocks oriole.

    Good birding,
