Birded Outer Point Reyes yesterday (Sunday in hopes that early
migrants might be showing. Fog on the deck most of the day made the
objective challenging! However did find notable 3 Barn Owls (at RCA
Station, Fish Docks and Drakes Beach) as well as the resident (?)
Great Horned Owl at Mendoza. Perhaps more surprising was the sight of
a juvenile Marbled Murrelet 50 yds offshore at the Lifeboat Station
fishing with 2 Common Loons. Did manage a single Orange crowned
warbler at Drakes Beach among the willows by the monument, and a
Townsend's warbler among a flurry of Chestnut-backed Chickadees on the
earthquake trail at the Pt Reyes Visitor Center.
