    In the trees along Perkins in Lakeside Park, I just saw four fledgling 
    Cooper's Hawks chasing each other about and playing. They spent a lot of 
    time running along the branches, but all could fly. One landed on the 
    ground 15 feet from me and sat awhile, then flew off to join the others 
    as they all went hooting away - after a parent, I suspect, though I 
    never saw an adult, and didn't see anything nestlike that I was sure 
    didn't belong to a squirrel.
    
    Actually, it's three or four years since I knew where the Coops were 
    nesting in the park - the tree they'd used for years got too thin to 
    hide the nest, but they clearly didn't go far. I saw one youngster last 
    year with a parent distracting some crows not far away, and this year we 
    have these four beauties....
