Late in adding to this thread -
but in El Sobrante, there have been two orange finches for two years in a
row in my almond tree. This year one was even brighter and when the sun
shown on him in the early morning, he was almost iridescent and very
beautiful. The rest of the House Finches ranged from red to almost purple.

Subject: [EBB Sightings] Yellow-orange variant House Finches
For the third year now, I've had at least 2 yellow-orange variant male House
Finches in my garden in the Oakland Hills.
Last weekend in Tracy, in San Joaquin Co, I observed the yellowest male that
I've ever seen near a diary. I wondered if the abundance of cattle feed had
anything to do with its color.
