    >From the year I moved in to my house (1991) until 2003 the Olive-sided
Flycatcher was a regular resident in my neighborhood from late April until
July or August. Many years in the late 1990's there was a pair hanging
around. I suspect that they were breeding here. After 2003 I only heard
one in the distance from my house, and in 2008 I heard one in the distance
in May only. I have not heard one from my yard yet this year. Elsewhere I
have only heard one in the distance from Skyline Gate on Skyline Blvd in
Oakland, and one at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. They seem to be
declining in the area. They are listed as a "Species of Concern" by the
USFWS, and I believe it is only a matter of time before they are endangered.

    > There was an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER at Niles Community Park this morning.
    > It was foraging on the south side of the first pond just below the tennis
    > courts, easily viewed very closely from the elevated walk between that
    > pond & the adjacent pond to the SW. This park is off 3rd St. in Niles
    > between G & H Sts. The general location of Niles is west of Mission Blvd.
    > & Niles Canyon Rd. along the north side of Alameda Creek. The water level
    > is high in this pond. Be aware that the concrete path that circles this
    > pond is flooded on the north side.
    > I also witnessed agonistic behavior between a couple of male Hooded
    > Orioles for the first time. They pointed their bills almost straight up as
    > if to show off their black mask/bibs to each other. I imagined the
    > constant chattering as trash talk. ;)
