I went to Sunol today for the first time. What a treat! The highlight came immediately as a male Lawrence's Goldfinch was foraging in the low bushes by the last parking lot, at one point upside down. I found a female under the large oaks on the hillside above the corral, where many other species were. Also, I saw a Northern Flicker (out of season?) And a possible Black-chinned HB in the same area. Other species were the same as others have mentioned recently but no Vaux's Swift or Nashville Warbler for me.

Did my normal hike this morning at Lake del Valle. Had 57 species including
a very nice Yellow-breasted Chat. I found the chat on the valley floor north
of the bridge. Sure would have been nice to see this bird last year during
the ABY.
Last Sunday 04/26/09 at dawn Phil Gordon, Jaan Lepson and myself had a
singing Common Poorwill at the north end of Lake del Valle. At the white
concrete bridge on Arroyo Rd we had Western Screech Owl and Barn Owl. Sorry
for the late posting.
