I know, I know they don't breed here. But this morning on the lower Strawberry Cyn trail, Berkeley (probably halfway between the start at the lower parking lot and the steep connector trail)there was a bird sitting in the trail and not ambulating "normally". At a distance I thought it was injured. When I got closer and I was able to get quite close, it was clearly a fledgling with all the markings of a Townsends Warblwr. Pale yellow face and breast with a pale grayish auricular patch, two white wing bars, white outer tail feathers. I watched it as it hopped/"flew" out of the road into the bushes on the creek side. The small Strawberry Cyn parking lot is before you get to the UC botanical garden on Centennial Road on the right and after the pool area.
