For what it's worth, I spotted a pair of pygmies working on a nest today just off of Nimitz Way in Tilden. It was, I'd guess, maybe a third of a mile from Inspiration Pt, where Nimitz rounds the first hill and descends a bit. They were in a snag of sorts in the stand of pines just to the east of the road.
In the same place, in the semi-clearing between the pines and the road, a very cooperative song sparrow was posing and singing his aria from some grass. He was backed up by a mixed chorus of other species. Also seen on our short walk were a chickadee or two, Oregon junkos, crows and/or ravens and such.
A gorgeous day!
Cheers,
Alan Howe
