A late morning walk at the marina as the tide was starting to go out showed
some of the shore birds in their breeding plumage. Along the south side of
Powell Ave., right off shore, a cormorant was diving and I thought it was a
Pelagic Cormorant. It flew off confirming , "yes, I am a Pelagic" , as it
showed its bright white breeding spots on its rear. On the shore, poking around
was a Black-bellied Plover in breeding plumage. In side the marina was a
Spotted Sandpiper just getting its spots and a Horned Grebe with its yellow head
coloration. Other shore birds where the Willets, Least Sandpipers , Marbled
Godwits, Grebes (Clarks, Western and Pied-Billed) and Foresters Terns. The
few ducks left were the Greater Scaups, Buffleheads and Ruddies.
On shore in the marina were a small flock of Yellow-Crowned Sparrows, an
American Goldfinch, several Yellow-Rumped Warblers (Audubon), and Barn Swallows,
along with the usual House Finches and Starlings. A lot of birds for just
    walking out my door.
